Herman’s Flowers
Herman’s Flowers is closing.
The shop has operated since 1896 but the family business is planning its final sales this weekend at 1426 14th St. S.W.
“Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for letting us blossom beside you for generations,” they wrote in a social post.
They’ll be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 15 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 16.
Boot Barn
A Boot Barn is planned for a portion of the former Joann space at Holiday Village Mall, according to a real estate listing for the neighboring space.
The company has not yet responded to a request for confirmation and further details.
Cascade Granite
Cascade Granite, and the building it currently occupies, is for sale at 1001 9th St. N.W.
Aim High Big Sky Aquatic Center Open House
The city’s Aim High Big Sky Aquatic Center is hosting an open house 6-8 p.m. Nov. 13 to learn more about the facility.
Visitors can take a yoga class, try out the cardio equipment, take a ride on the waterslide and more.
Spine and Sport Therapy will also have an open house during the event.
Five minute massage chairs will be available, the prize wheel will be spinning and concessions will be open to purchase light snacks.
Calumet donation
Calumet Montana is announcing a $100,000 toward public safety in Great Falls on Nov. 13.
The company is giving $50,000 to the Sheriff Legacy Foundation and $50,000 to the Great Falls Police Community Foundation.
Entrepreneur Celebration
The Great Falls Development Alliance is hosting an Entrepreneur Celebration from 5-6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Newberry. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

The Great Falls Community Concert Band, under the the direction of Dennis Granlie, presents “Movie Music and More” at 7 p.m. Nov. 23 at New Hope Lutheran Church, at 32nd Street and 5th Avenue South.

La Tray at Great Falls Public Library
The 2024 Montana Poet Laureate Chris La Tray returns to the Great Falls Public Library for a free talk from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Cordingley Room about his new book Becoming Little Shell: Returning Home to the Landless Indians of Montana.
Cassiopeia Books will be on hand to sell copies of the book.
The Arbitrary Book Club, led by GFPL Staffers Dan and Amanda, will discuss ‘Becoming Little Shell’ at 2 p.m. that day in the small meeting room. The discussion is free and open to the public.

The Salvation Army Great Falls, Montana is recruiting volunteers for bell ringing and taking applications for families who need help.

Sun River Watershed Group moving
The Sun River Watershed Group is moving into space with the Brett Harris Agency at 423 Central Ave.
They’ll be full-time in the new office Jan. 2, and sporadically until then.
Independence Bank staff addition
Independence Bank has added Mason Walker to its lending team as a commercial lender.
Walker brings more than 20 years of experience in mortgage lending to his new role. Prior to joining Independence Bank, he served as vice president of mortgage lending at Evergreen Homes, where he built a strong reputation for customer service and deep community connections.

Symphony donation
Earlier this fall, Diane Volk made a $500,000 donation was made to the Great Falls Symphony.
In recognition of the gift, Great Falls Symphony youth programs will now be named the Diane and Roy Volk Youth Orchestra Programs, encompassing the youth orchestra, Sinfonia and chamber music program.
Diane Volk and her family have been staunch Great Falls Symphony supporters and arts advocates for decades.
“For decades Diane Volk has been a significant player in the symphony’s success in Great Falls. Her family has had a long history of involvement in the growth of our City. She and her family have made countless contributions to civic and social organizations. Diane, with her husband, Roy, were instrumental in promoting businesses which have been notable in our city’s economic development. Her staunch belief in the Great Falls Symphony’s educational component has inspired her to underwrite the Diane and Roy Volk Youth Orchestra Programs which will support the youth orchestra, Sinfonia and the chamber music program. Diane is the perfect example of a visionary who stands behind the quality of life that the symphony brings to Great Falls,” Gordon Johnson, music director emeritus said in a release.
