The Great Falls Symphony and the Great Falls Public Library have partnered for a new way to make live symphonic music more accessible to community members.
The program, Symphony Pass, allows anyone with a library card to “check out” free tickets to the symphony’s concert series performances, all of which feature a candidate for music director this season.
The program doesn’t include Cascade Quartet concerts currently.
“The initiative underscores both organizations’ commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and the enrichment of community life through the arts,” according to the symphony and the library.

“The symphony has been working to break down the perception that orchestral music is exclusive or elitist. Through the Symphony Pass program, we hope to make it easier for everyone in our community to experience the power and beauty of live music. Music belongs to all of us, and this partnership helps ensure that everyone feels welcome to be part of it and can access it easily,” Tia Kanigan, the symphony’s marketing and development director, said in a release.
The tickets aren’t externally funded at this time but Kanigan told The Electric that they’d love to have a sponsor for the new program and for now are part of an initiative of the symphony to increase accessibility.
There’s a limited supply of tickets for each concert that may expand as they determine the level of community interest or find a sponsor, Kanigan told The Electric.
Jake Sorich, library communications specialist, said in a release that the partnership offers “a chance to attend these performances that people might not have been able to otherwise. The library’s mission is connecting people to knowledge, and that includes connecting people to the arts, which are a crucial part of a healthy, vibrant community.
