The Great Falls Public Schools board voted unanimously during their Feb. 24 meeting to move forward with the Lewis and Clark Elementary playground improvement project.
The Lewis and Clark Parent Teachers Association is spearheading the improvement of the school playground by selecting modern equipment and fundraising for the project.
The Lewis and Clark PTA reviewed the project with GFPS officials and the Great Falls Public School Foundation for approval.

TD&H completed a playground ADA assessment using federal standards.
Three companies that sell playground equipment have been contacted for bids, according to GFPS.
The bid solicitation process doesn’t oblige the Lewis and Clark PTA to complete the project, according to GFPS, but the Feb. 24 board action allows them to accept bids for the project.

The new playground equipment is estimated at $233,000 and the project will be funded by the Lewis and Clark PTA through fundraisers and individual donations.
Brian Patrick, GFPS’ business operations manager, told the school board during their Feb. 24 meeting that the PTA has been working to raise the funds and they’ll come back to the board to accept a bid.
