Rob Moccasin is the city’s new neighborhood council liaison.
Moccasin retired from the Great Falls Police Department on Aug. 2 and begins in his new role on Sept. 3.
In the new role, Moccasin will be responsible for the management, direction and coordination of the city’s nine neighborhood councils and the Great Falls Citizen Council, or the Council of Councils.
He’ll be responsible for facilitating citizen participation and translating neighborhood concerns to the city, according to the city.

Before 2019, it was a part-time position focused solely on supporting neighborhood councils, as the position is now going back to with Moccasin’s hire.
The former communication specialist/neighborhood council coordinator left the city earlier this year to be a communications manager for Calumet.
Moccasin served at the GFPD for 30 years, retiring as the investigative services captain.

City Manager Greg Doyon said during the Aug. 6 City Commission meeting that Moccasin’s law enforcement experience will be helpful to the neighborhood councils.
In a release, Doyon said Moccasin is “intimately familiar with the community, its distinct neighborhood areas, and has familiarity with all of the city departments. His knowledge of the organization will be extremely helpful in his new role.”
