The City of Great Falls is now accepting applications for the 2020 City 101 Academy.
The six-part series will be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6:45-9 p.m. Jan. 29 through June 17.
City officials will share information about city operations, budgets, funding and answer participant questions.
This will be the second cycle of City 101.

The academy is free and open to the public. Class size is limited, so register early.
Registration closes Jan. 3, 2020.

SUMMARY OF TOPICS:
- Overview of Local Government – City Commission, City Manager, and Neighborhood Councils.
- Introductions into each City Department: City Clerk, Human Resources, Municipal Court, Animal Shelter, IT, Communications, Finance, Legal, Planning, and Community Development, Police, Fire, Park and Recreation, Public Works, Housing Authority, Mansfield Center, and Library.
- How to get involved: Volunteering within City Government and citizen’s roles on City Advisory Boards and Commissions.
PROGRAM GOALS:
- KNOWLEDGE: Improve participants’ understanding of local government while learning more about community issues and concerns. Participants get an overview of how services and programs are provided and a better understanding of what is needed to run a city
- INVOLVEMENT: Improving the quality and quantity of citizen participation. Citizens can learn how they can become more involved, possibly serving on City Advisory Boards or Commissions.
- ENGAGEMENT: Improving the lines of communication and relationships between residents, business owners, students, and their local government. Participants have an opportunity to connect with local leaders and create relationships that foster enhanced communications.
