Montana Shakespeare in the Parks made a stop in Great Falls this weekend, with two free shows at the University of Providence on Aug. 7-8.
The Aug. 7 show is Much Ado About Nothing and Aug. 8 is The Merchant of Venice.
It’s MSIP’s 54th season and the Great Falls stop was sponsored by the Great Falls Public Library, the Great Falls Public Library Foundation and the Great Falls Theatre Company.
This year’s shows were:
“Much Ado About Nothing” speaks to the joy and uncertainty of love, reputation, and the ways that community shapes our understanding of one another. This lively comedy unfolds in the aftermath of war, where returning soldiers and welcoming hosts find themselves drawn into courtship, clever schemes, and shifting perceptions, according to MSIP.
“The Merchant of Venice” explores justice, mercy, prejudice, and the longing to belong in a divided world. Through romance and courtroom drama, Shakespeare examines the cost of exclusion and the transformative power of mercy, according to MSIP.
Kendra Carol of Honeybee Photography MT captured some of the live theater magic for The Electric.
