It’s the holiday season and Great Falls Public Schools are in the spirit.

During their Nov. 24 board meeting, Superintendent Heather Hoyer’s data for the day was holiday concerts with information from Dusty Molyneaux, the district’s music and art supervisor.

There are 108 separate elementary concerts, eight middle school concerts, five high school concerts and three resources only concerts, for a total of 121 opportunities to hear students perform during the month of December.

The elementary schools prepare from mid October to concert days, with six to seven classes, for a total of 756 touch point for learning, Hoyer said.

The middle and high school students perform anywhere from 20-30 times at community events or locations, such as the Christmas Stroll and nursing homes.

Hoyer said that the holiday concerts are well attended by parents, families and community members.

“Peace, Peace,” she said, has been performed at the Great Falls High School holiday concert for more than 50 years with the original copyright in 1969.

It’s one of the district’s most historic pieces of music, she said, and often during the performance, she can tell who’s been part of the Delphian Choir over the years.
