The city public works department is beginning their annual spring street sweeping next week.
On your scheduled day, you’re asked to remove vehicles from the area from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The schedule may change or be canceled due to weather.
The city sweeps about 300 miles of streets each year to maintain cleanliness, improve roadway safety and enhance the overall appearance of neighborhoods and business districts.
Street sweeping helps remove debris, leaves and dirt that can clog storm drains, contribute to air pollution and create hazardous driving conditions, according to the city.
Spring sweeping is conducted on a daily schedule, ensuring that residential streets are thoroughly cleaned after the winter months.
Beyond the scheduled spring sweeping, residential streets are also swept upon request.
Collector streets, which experience higher traffic volumes, are swept multiple times throughout the year as needed, according to the city, and business district streets are cleaned routinely after hours to minimize disruptions to businesses and traffic flow.
Next week’s schedule is:
- April 7: All streets from Park Drive North to 9th Street North from 2nd Avenue North to 8th Avenue North; streets from 10th Street North to 13th Street North from 8th Avenue North to Central Avenue; 9th Street North from 8th Avenue North to River Drive North
