The City of Great Falls Animal Shelter is participating in the “Empty the Shelters” event, in collaboration with the BISSELL Pet Foundation, through May 15.
The national initiative aims to reduce adoption fees and encourage families to open their hearts and homes to pets in need.
During the event, the shelter is offering reduced adoption fees of $50 for dogs and $25 for cats. The adoption fees do not include the cost of a city license.

“This initiative not only helps us find loving homes for our shelter pets but also raises awareness about the importance of adoption. Every pet deserves a chance at a happy and fulfilling life, and we encourage everyone in our community to consider adopting during this special event, Laramie Smovir, interim operations manager at the shelter, said in a release.
The city shelter has been participating in the event for several years.
Since its inception in 2016, the “Empty the Shelters” event has helped find homes for more than 226,000 pets nationwide.
