Traffic alert: Road closures around Great Falls

As part of the water main river crossing project, the city’s contractor HDD Company will be conducting a pipe pull operation at the intersection of 6th Street Southwest and 10th Avenue Southwest.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 through 7 a.m. Sept. 23, 10th Avenue Southwest will be closed to traffic.

Northbound traffic on 6th Street Southwest will be reduced to one lane from 10th Avenue South to 9th Avenue Southwest.

Detours will be on 9th Avenue Southwest, 10th Avenue Southwest and 6th Street Southwest, according to public works.

Motorists are asked to watch for signs, detours, workers and equipment in the area and travel at posted speeds until signs indicate the work zone has ended.

The intersection of 4th Avenue South and 18th Street South will be closed between Sept. 18 and Oct. 11.

United Materials has a contract to reconstruct an entrance into Great Falls High School at that intersection.

During construction, 4th Avenue South from 17th Street South to 18th Street South and 18th Street South between 4th and 5th Avenues South will be closed to traffic, according to city public works.

Local access will be maintained.

The contractor will provide barricades and detour signs in the area to reroute traffic.

United Materials is installing a water main and constructing 14th Avenue South from 24th Street South to 25th Street. The construction activity will require the closure of this section of 14th Avenue South, beginning Sept. 19 and continuing through Nov. 1.

The contractor will provide barricades and detour signs in the area of construction to reroute traffic.
