Emergency Preparedness Forum is Sept. 24
September is National Preparedness Month, by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to promote family and community disaster and emergency planning now and throughout the year.
The 2019 theme is “Prepared, Not Scared.”
You can find a number of emergency preparedness resources on the Ready.gov site.
This year, The Electric has teamed with the Business Improvement District and NeighborWorks Great Falls to host an emergency preparedness forum on Sept. 24 from 5-7 p.m. at NWGF, 509 1st Ave. S.
From 5-5:30 p.m., various agencies will have tables set up with information and be available to answer questions and talk about emergency preparedness.
The forum begins at 5:30 p.m. with a panel discussion moderated by Jenn Rowell of The Electric.
Participating agencies include Great Falls Fire Rescue, Great Falls Police Department, Cascade County Sheriff’s Office, Malmstrom Air Force Base, NorthWestern Energy, Benefis Health System, Great Falls Clinic, National Weather Service-Great Falls, Great Falls Public Schools, Cascade County Disaster and Emergency Services, and more.
The discussion will include what to do in the event of an emergency situation such as a natural disaster, active shooter, dam safety and how to otherwise be safe and prepared.
This event is free and open to the public.
This year’s forum will be catered by Clark and Lewie’s and is sponsored by The Electric, the Business Improvement District, NeightborWorks Great Falls, NorthWestern Energy, Mountain West Farm Bureau Agent Connie Matthews and BNSF.
