GFPD officer running for sheriff

Detective Jesse Slaughter is running for Cascade County sheriff.
Slaughter is part of the special victims unit at the Great Falls Police Department, focused on internet crimes against children.
Slaughter is running as a Democrat and is not currently announcing his campaign team.
“I just really want to do it,” Slaughter said.
His father was a sheriff and it’s been a dream of his since he was sworn in as law enforcement 18 years ago, he said.
“It’s in my blood a little bit,” Slaughter said.
He said, if elected, he would make the sheriff’s office more accessible and visible, and focus on the child abuse and drug abuse plaguing the county.
Slaughter thanked his family for their support in running for sheriff.
Slaughter is now in the running with Bob Rosipal, the chief coroner at CCSO, who is running as a Republican and filed earlier this month.
