Moe, Robinson, Burow and Tryon advance to November city ballot

Unofficial results in the City Commission primary are:
Mary Sheehy Moe: 5,543
Owen Robinson: 3,900
Fred Burow: 3,649
Rick Tryon: 3,351
Kate Hughes: 1,575
Tyson Habein: 736
Josh DeNully: 584
Scott Miller (withdrew from race): 507
A total of 10,495 ballots were processed as of 8:33 p.m., but a number were invalid because voters selected too many candidates. A handful of voters didn’t sign their ballots and election staff have been attempting to contact those voters to sign their ballots. They have until 3 p.m. Wednesday to do or their ballot is rejected.
Elections staff will canvass next week and results will not be officially certified until the canvass is complete.
About 28,000 ballots were mailed to eligible voters in late August.
Two seats are open this year and the top four vote getters tonight advance to the November ballot.
Candidates are incumbent Fred Burow, Josh DeNully, Tyson Habein, Owen Robinson, Mary Moe, Kate Hughes and Rick Tryon.
Scott Miller dropped out of the race but never filed paperwork to formally withdraw and remained on the ballot.
Only the commission race was on the primary ballot. In November, the ballot will include the mayor’s race, neighborhood councils, urban chickens, economic development levy and updates to the city charter.
